Audley Striders RC Club Roles
Chairperson’s Responsibilities
1. To be responsible for the overall running of the Club
2. To interact with Club members and committee members to maintain a good relationship with all members
3. Be aware of the roles and responsibilities of the other committee members
4. Be aware of the financial situation of the club
5. Make decisions about spending and purchasing of equipment together with committee members
6. Inform the membership about happenings on a regular basis via chairperson’s notes or email
7. Plan and chair regular committee meetings to discuss and plan Club activities and ensure that actions are handed out and taken care of.
8. To decide with other committee members the direction the club should be moved forward
9. Chair the AGM
10. To represent the Club and it’s aims to the public and the membership.
Vice Chairperson’s Responsibilities
To support the Chairperson and stand in for the Chairperson in his/her absence
The responsibilities of the Vice Chairperson are therefore the same as the Chairperson
Secretary’s Responsibilities
1. Deal with all enquiries at the first stage and reply to Facebook comments etc
2. Oversee storage of Club equipment
3. Attend all meetings and ensure that all equipment is available
4. Oversee purchase of replacement equipment
5. Represent the Club to the public
6. Attend regular committee meetings
Treasurer’s Responsibilities
1. To be responsible for all the Societies financial transactions.
2. To maintain accurate records of monies received and disbursed
3. To make payments for properly authorised transactions ensuring that a receipt is signed for every transaction
4. A payment to a member of the Committee must have an authorising signature on the receipt from a member of the Committee who is not the recipient of the monies or the Treasurer
5. To check the bank balances at least once a month.
6. To produce a summary report on the Club’s financial position for the Annual General Meeting
7. Ensure that all Committee members have access to a copy of the financial records.
8. Generate a backup copy whenever the financial records are updated, so that the data can be rolled back should it prove to be necessary. The backup should be on a device that is remote to the PC e.g. a pen drive, an external hard drive/ cloud storage
9. Be aware of the fixed payment dates such insurance etc
10. To regularly attend Committee meetings
Events Co-ordinator
1. Responsible for organising any event outside of regular club runs.
2. Organising park run take overs, Christmas/evening socials and any fund-raising plans.
3. Coordinate announcements with club secretary.
4. Presenting suggestions for events/ideas fielded from non-committee members at meetings.
5. Attend all committee meetings
Social Media Co-ordinator
1. Develop and curate engaging content
2. Respond to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and professional manner.
3. Manage multiple social media platforms by publishing content and maintaining consistency in posting.
4. Collaborate with the committee to create social media campaigns aligned with broader marketing goals.
Run Leader Co-Ordinator
1. Responsible for liaising with the team of run leaders to decide/set route courses and nominate leaders to cover the routes, based on leader ability/pace.
2. Also responsible for checking the health and safety and undertaking route risk assessments, whilst also making the final decision on whether to amend/cancel a run at times of inclement weather, etc
3. Pass on relevant information to the run leaders
4. Attend all committee meetings
Run Leaders
1. A run leader isn’t pushy, but certainly seeks to motivate and encourage those around them.
2. Welcoming a new runner(s) into the group. The run leader will always seek to create a friendly, social environment where runners can feel relaxed and really enjoy their running.
3. Navigating the chosen route.
4. Ensuring all in the group are accounted for at all times.
Race Coordinator
Organises club races. Also looking out for races and advertises them on the group chat, gets people to sign up and sorts out meeting times etc
Safeguarding Officer
The Safeguarding Officer is responsible for promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all members of the club. This includes overseeing safeguarding policies, acting as a point of contact for concerns, and ensuring the club meets its safeguarding responsibilities in line with England Athletics guidance.
Must be willing to complete safeguarding training and any required checks (e.g. DBS) in line with England Athletics requirements.
Beginners rep
Encouraging new members, being the friendly face, celebrating their “firsts”, making sure they know the social media pages and group chats
Mental Health Ambassador
The objective of this role is to work within our running club to support the mental well-being of all members, aim to make links between our club, mental health services/groups and organisations to encourage their members to start running.
With support from other ASRC members we will start discussions about mental health with other running clubs working pro-actively with members of the ‘running community’ to achieve our goal of making running inclusive for all.
To utilise social media to share information regarding England Athletics #runandtalk campaign and organise regular runs within ASRC and again with other running clubs across our area.
